Randall
F. Matheny, his wife
Pamela and their sons, Evan, Collin, and John moved to Warren on
August 16, 1998 to work with the congregation that meets at 1720
Scandia Road. Prior to their arrival in Warren, the Mathenys
worked under the oversight of the elders of the Washington Street
church of Christ, Saint Albans, West Virginia, where Randy served for
ten years as one of the evangelists for the congregation as well as
their evangelist to India. The Mathenys' involvement in the Republic
of India began with Randy's first trip in 1987 and continues, on a
limited basis, under the auspices of the Warren congregation.
Randy is a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Ohio Valley College, Parkersburg, West Virginia, with a BA degree in Bible. He is pursuing graduate level work as time and resources allow. Pam is a graduate of Michigan Christian College (now Rochester College), and Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tennessee, with a BS in Family Services. Randy has preached the gospel of Christ for twenty-eight years in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and India. Several of Randy's articles have appeared in the "West Virginia Christian." Randy also edits and publishes "The Country Preacher's Journal," an Internet publication.
The Warren congregation has been in existence since 1975 (although there have some members of the church here since the 1960s who assembled with either the Jamestown or Bradford congregations), has a membership of some fifty-five souls, and is self-supporting. The nearest neighboring congregations are Jamestown, New York (20 miles) and Bradford, Pennsylvania (25 miles). The church building is located five miles east of downtown Warren at 1720 Scandia Road and is easily accessible via Cobham Park Road, Fifth Avenue Extension or Hatch Run Road. Some of our members live in Warren, Clarendon, Sheffield, Russell and Sugar Grove. We are near some of the most beautiful vacation, hunting, fishing and hiking areas in the Eastern United States, including the Allegheny National Forest, the vast Kinzua Dam and Reservoir and the Allegheny River. If you are visiting our area or searching for a church family in the Warren area that exalts Jesus Christ and endeavors to faithfully follow His New Testament, you will find yourself warmly welcomed by the congregation.
